Matt has always been interested in carrying the message of The Good of the Hive through storytelling. Over the next year, Matt is going to be actively leaning into the power of the stories to serve the collective need for change. See below for a few videos that have been captured along the way.

 

The Film

In 2020 The Good of the Hive launched a campaign to raise funds for a film about the origin of this project. The response has been overwhelmingly positive and the film is currently in production!

Xander’s Bee

Meet Xander, an 11-year-old boy with a Cochlear Implant. He got the implant put in surgically in May of 2017 and they hooked up the receiver in June. The Good of the Hive was there for it, and later that day I painted a bee on the magnetic disc that connects the implant to the receiver.

 
 

The Murals

This is a short video “portfolio” of some of the works created prior to COVID.

It has taken Herculean efforts of a multitude of people on and off every mural site to bring these murals into the world. I wish I could tell every amazing story and share just how much I appreciate every one of you in detail. (Someday I will find the time to write the book) But for now, I just want to honor everyone that has housed, fed, emotionally supported, befriended, advised, interviewed, prayed for, or simply shared a drive-by “thumbs up” to keep my spirits lifted. The interactions with people throughout these first 6 years would make even the worst skeptic a believer in the beauty of the human spirit.

Special thanks to the amazing photographers, filmmakers, and videographers there to help carry the story of the bees and The Good of the Hive out to the world over the last 6 years.
