DOWNTOWN GASTONIA, NC

Honestly, I got more from this project than the bees or the town of Gastonia. A most perseverant woman named Merryman Cassels emailed me almost immediately after I launched and offered words that are like sweet music to an artist’s ear… “I have funding for a mural already in place.” She made it easy for me to say yes and we actually met at Lady Spirit Moon’s Gathering before I ever said yes to the project.

Kindred Spirits

This brave woman invited me to live with her while I was creating the mural and we became fast friends. The timing of our bee-awakening experiences is very similar and there is something about me and Merryman that (although we look quite different on the outside) is kindred in spirit. She has become one of my greatest friends and trusted advisors. She was instrumental in The Good of the Hive’s participation in the Burning Man piece and is just, well, a gift that I could not be more grateful for.

The town of Gastonia, just outside Charlotte is a special little place with an amazing history.
